Pulse Mondiale is a sonic voyage through the rhythms and textures of this planets limitless styles of music. A natural outgrowth of founder Rene Gely's travels in Latin America, the Mid-East and Europe, Pulse Mondiale was started 3 years ago in San Francisco, and has been developing with a pool of talented world beat and jazz musicians in the Ottawa area. The repertoire consists of Latin Jazz standards, Afro Cuban Descargas, traditional folk songs opened into improvisation, and African grooves.
Currently Rene uses a wide group of musicians, including Alvaro De Minaya and Rob Graves on percussion, Tom Mcmahon and Marc Skwiercz on bass, Mark Rehder on drums and Mike Tremblay on saxophones and flute.
For performances, the lineup can be anything from Rene on solo guitar and loops (he is able to create amazingly rich, multi-guitar textures by sampling himself live), to duo, trio, or all the way up to full quintet.
Give a listen to the three songs newly recorded with these fine Ottawa musicians and give yourself over to the global rhythms of Pulse Mondiale.
